| Our success
will depend not on new building and resources, but on
quality of teaching that we provide. We want this to
be the very best.
MORNING ASSEMBLY
This is the most important event of the day and takes
place in an informal setting. We share stories and ideas,
sing and pray together (in Nepali) before starting the
day's work.
ENGLISH
Under the Academic Director and Principal's direction,
children learn to speak good English, to write it fluently
and correctly and to read it with pleasure and understanding.
Many of the lessons consists of creative writing, listening
to stories, drama and discussion, as well as traditional
exercises.
NEPALI
Our students must develop a love and respect for Nepali
language, literature and culture. They must learn to
write perfect Nepali as well as speak it. They develop
their language skills through writing, debates, poetry
and stories as well as grammar exercises.
SCIENCE
We want our students to adopt real scientific methods:
to observe, experiment, analyze and evaluate data. They
must examine the natural environment, study the human
body and learn about physical and chemical processes.
The information comes from the textbook, but the understanding
comes from practical activities.
SOCIAL STUDIES
They go to study Nepal's history, its present condition
and its future prospects. They look at the world beyond,
other countries, religions, political systems and physical
environments. We eventually want our students develop
a strong sense of responsibility for Nepal's welfare
and development.
MATHEMATICS
Maths require careful and systematic teaching. Children
learn how to use these in practical situations-weighing
and measuring, estimating, analyzing scientific data,
designing patterns, etc.
COMPUTING
This generation students will do much of their studies
and research on the Internet and most of their project
work/essays and exams on the computer. All our students
learn basic computer skills including programming in
our well equipped computer lab.
ARTS
Art is not an optional extra:it's an essential part
of our curriculum. It can range from precise drawing
of plants in our garden to pottery and puppetry and
exploring new ways to use colors in abstract designs.
We are planning an Art Department which should be the
best in Nepal.
MUSIC, DANCE AND DRAMA
Another essential part of the curriculum involving body
control, voice training, close teamwork and a lot of
fun. Some of this will take place in the Assembly Hall.
But we are also planning an Amplitheature for outdoor
performances.
MEDTATION/YOGA
It is the power of total inner and outer development
and helps students to develop the habits of balance
and concentration. A modified version of Meditation
and Yoga is taught to interested students.
PROJECT WORK
Students are given independent project works. They have
to go out to study different communities in order to
complete the project and present it to their friends.
Junior students will have to do simple projects suited
to their age.
EXTRA CURRICULUM ACTIVITIES
Srudents participate in indoor and outdoor games such
as basketball, table-tennis, chess, football, cricket
and teakwondo. Promising players are given special training
and oppertunities for participating in tournaments.
Students can also take part in other cultural and educational
activities. Besides, frequent excursions are organized
for students to visit places of archaeological and historical
interest in and around Kathmandu.
